Pres. Buhari Approves ₦1.2 Billion For Prado, Land Cruiser, Camry For Nigeria Police, Adding ₦1.03 Billion For Fuelling

According to Maigari Dingyadi, the Minister of Police Affairs, the Federal Government has approved the allocation of N1.03 billion for the purchase of fuel for the police vehicles. It was also approved to spend N1.2 billion on the purchase of Toyota Landcruisers, Toyota Prado, and Toyota Camry cars.

The minister said over N1 billion naira will be spent on over 5 million litres of fuel for the vehicles.

“I’m happy to announce that the Federal Executive Council has today approved the award of contract for the Nigeria Police Trust Fund for the supply of vehicles and insurance cover for several other vehicles at a total cost of N4, 541,829.17,” the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quoted Dingyadi as saying.

“The vehicles consist of Land Cruisers, Toyota Prado 2021 model and Toyota Camry. The land cruisers are about eight in number, while the Prado are eight in number also, and then the Toyota Camry vehicles are about 44 in number. The vehicles will be supplied at the cost of N1,200,400,000.24. The cost of fuelling of the vehicles has also been approved at the total cost of about 5,093,770 litres at the cost of N1,039,169,880 respectively.”

The minister added that police personnel will use the vehicles for patrols and tactical operations amid the fight against insecurity in the country.

He said between 2020 and 2022, the insurance cover for the vehicles purchased by the PTF involving about 450 “assorted vehicles for that matter,” amounted to the sum of N812,309,823.93.

“This is what has been approved for the Police Trust Fund at the just concluded Federal Executive Council,” he added.
