McLaren Has An Upcoming SUV; Here’s What To Expect

Amongst all the sports car manufacturers, McLaren is the only company that does not have an SUV and the brand is about to break that record.

All of that will be changing soon because the British Motor company has an SUV on the way. 

Not only will this be McLaren’s first-ever SUV, it’s also going to be the brand’s first fully electric vehicle.

The decision to make SUVs started with Michael Leiters taking over as CEO last year. The company quickly overturned the decision to never make SUVs. 

However, the company’s decision to now makes SUVs could be backed by the fact that SUVs are now hotcakes in the market. 

Ferrari understood this which made them change their decision and make the first-ever Ferrari SUV, the Purosangue.

Interestingly, Michael Leiters, the new CEO of McLaren is the one who oversaw the development of the Purosangue at Ferrari, and he also helped make the Cayenne SUV while working for Porsche.

While McLaren is yet to state the name of the SUV, the company is already joining the list of sports car brands with their SUV lineup.

However, the upcoming SUV is not just going to be another family car, it’ll retain some diluted sporting car features.

The CEO, Michael Leiters made it clear that the new SUV will still retain the brand’s DNA. The SUV will focus more on comfort and luxury compared to other McLaren vehicles.

The Interior Of The McLaren SUV

For now, all that’s known about the interior will be more spacious, and it will likely feature an additional screen for the passenger. 

Even the infotainment system will be more user-friendly as the current one is heavily track-focused.

The Engine & Performance Of The McLaren SUV

The McLaren SUV will deliver up to 700 horsepower, rumor has it that it will even be as powerful as 800 horsepower.

Release Date Of The McLaren SUV

The McLaren company will announce the release of the car in late 2024, and the car will be ready between 2025 or 2026.
