Some cars can be a great investment over time, especially sports cars. As per Ola of Lagos, the 1951 Jaguar C-Type costs more than some state budgets in Nigeria, making it one of the rarest Jaguar cars ever made. Only 53 units were produced, with 43 sold to private owners in the United States of America and the last one sold at auction. The Jaguar C-Type, officially known as the Jaguar XK120-C, was built by Jaguar and sold from 1951 to 1953, with the ‘C’ standing for “competition.” According to Ola of Lagos, it cost 17 Billion Naira to buy this 1951 Jaguar C-type.

The Jaguar XK120 had an immediate success when it was launched in 1948. Originally, it was designed to showcase the XK engine and was produced in limited numbers. However, due to pressure from dealers, especially from North America, the XK120 later entered full-scale production at Foleshill. The early cars had aluminium bodies (steel being rationed and unavailable) and proved popular on the racing and rally circuits.

In the British Racing Drivers’ Club Production Car race at Silverstone, three cars took the first two places. Encouraged by this success, Jaguar sold or lent six XK120s to six selected drivers for the 1950 Mille Miglia, with Leslie Johnson finishing fifth.
