Overview of the 2024 Toyota RAV4

While the 2024 Toyota RAV4 is not different from the 2023 model, that doesn’t mean the 2024 RAV4 will be sitting stagnant on the sidelines while rivals like the Honda CR-V, Ford Escape, Subaru Forester, and Nissan Rogue have all the fun. For 2024, Toyota added an army green colour, a paint colour already seen on several of Toyota’s bigger trucks and SUVs to the 2024 RAV4. Also, the hue colour will be offered on the Adventure and TRD Off-Road trims as a no-cost option. A two-tone colour combo will also be available for these variants, paired with either a white or a black roof.

The 2024 Toyota RAV4 will mark the sixth year of production for the current-generation RAV4. Since the model’s introduction in 2019, Toyota has also added some new tech features and new trim levels to this 2024 model. However, the vehicle has not been redesigned.

The 2024 RAV4 Hybrid just like the 2023 model features an angular design with deep body lines, a chiselled front end, dual exhaust outlets, and chunky tail lights. Toyota offers the RAV4 Hybrid in a wide range of trims that include the sporty XSE with an available black roof and black wheels, as well as the upscale Limited trim with an extra bit of chrome.

The 2024 RAV4 is available in six trim levels: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, TRD Off-Road and Limited. Front-wheel drive is standard on most of the trim levels, with all-wheel drive offered as an option.

Front-wheel drive comes standard on all RAV4 trims but the Adventure and TRD Off-Road, which only come with all-wheel drive. The LE, XLE, and XLE Premium have the option of the AWD system.

The 2024 RAV4 isn’t a fast car at all. Experts note that it goes from 0-60mph in 9.1 seconds. It will comfortably drive you around town. But, speed is where the RAV4 draws the line.

The 2024 RAV4 earned class-competitive fuel-economy estimates from the EPA. The EPA estimates the RAV4 will get 28-30 mpg in combined city/highway driving, depending on the powertrain and trim level. Experts note that the front-wheel-drive RAV4s can manage up to an estimated 35 mpg on the highway. 

The Interior Features and Quality of the 2024 Toyota RAV4

The interior of the SUV remains top-notch as it didn’t experience any major upgrades from the previous model.

The driving position, roominess, and ease of getting in and out are all good. But the RAV4 would be better if the front passenger seat wasn’t set so high or could be adjusted down on most trims. Only the RAV4 Limited gets a power-adjustable front passenger seat. The driver’s seat and steering wheel have a good range of adjustment, but tall drivers might want a smidge more adjustability. Outward visibility is praiseworthy. The interior also speaks of quiet and comfortable ride quality. Also, the SUV boasts abundant cargo and passenger space.

That LE trim has a lower price because it uses cloth seats, hard black plastics throughout, a leather-free steering wheel, and single-zone manual climate control. The XLE Premium cuts the compromises, done up with faux-leather upholstery, pleasant plastics, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a stitched and padded dashboard and centre-console armrest.

Lower trims of the 2024 RAV4 come with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, but the Limited and the TRD Off-Road trims get a 10.5-inch display system. The infotainment system includes a 4G LTE mobile hotspot and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. There’s also a JBL premium audio system, navigation, and a wireless charging pad for a smartphone are optional. Most models come with a separate 7.0-inch display in the gauge cluster, but a 12.3-inch fully digital gauge display is optional on the XLE Premium and TRD Off-Road and is standard on the Limited.

The RAV4’s cargo hold is nearly the biggest in its class. You get 37.5 cubic feet with the rear seats up and 69.8 cubic feet with them stowed. The RAV4 is also easy to load thanks to a low cargo floor. Up front, the cabin has numerous shelves and bins to handle assorted road-trip paraphernalia. If you’re planning on towing, certain versions of the RAV4 can pull up to 3,500 pounds, which is above average for a small SUV.

Safety Features in the 2024 Toyota RAV4

The 2024 Toyota RAV4 has a standard suite of driver aids that is very impressive. It includes adaptive cruise control that works down to 0 mph, automatic emergency braking, drowsy driver detection, automatic high beams, lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control and something called Line Tracing Assist, which is an active (but not hands-free) steering aid.
