Everybody wants to drive a supercar, if for no other reason, the fancy and luxury and speed it comes with. They can cost millions, go very fast, and attract plenty of attention in traffic. The term supercar was coined to describe extremely expensive, extremely beautiful and extremely fast cars. But the proper use of this term is often subjective and disputed, especially among enthusiasts. There is no clear definition of what characteristics a car must have to be a supercar. What constitutes a supercar is often a matter of opinion. Supercars deliver exhilarating and accessible motorsports. They are used for entertainment to engage passionate fans, creating a proud and aligned set of partners, race teams and employees.

A supercar or hypercar can also prove to be an appreciating asset, but prospective owners should be aware in advance of the likely running costs, and know that supercars aren’t renowned for their everyday practicality. With limited ground clearance and outward visibility, manoeuvring in tight spaces or on/off ferry/Eurotunnel ramps and narrow streets can be a challenge.

There will always be arguments over the identity of the world’s first supercar, depending on one’s definition of the term. First coined in 1920, the term ‘supercar’ has grown to represent a vehicle with exceptional performance, far beyond what would be expected or required on the roadways across the country.

In all these beauty and luxury, here are some things nobody tells you about a supercar;.

Unwanted Attention

This is one thing which is very obvious. A supercar is something that gets a lot of attention. Now this is not a good thing all the time. Yes, you do want to be noticed when you buy a car like that, but there is a limit to that. Having a supercar grabs a lot of eyeballs and you eventually will get irritated with people coming close or trying to egg you on to go faster. It doesn’t matter where you go. You can’t hide. Someone will always approach you with questions, admiring declarations, and requests for selfies. Its beauty catches everyone’s attention.

Repair is a pain

The cheapest supercars are still quite expensive, nobody plans for an accident to happen but they sometimes do. One of the defining features of a supercar is its limited availability. Production runs of supercars reflect the exclusive markets that they serve. That means that spare parts are in short supply and damage to your supercar can be very expensive to repair. In some cases, car manufacturers might be willing to run special programs whereby they will cover repair costs for supercar owners, but this won’t always be the case.

The Ground Clearance

Driving a car like this onto an incline — basically any driveway — is a surgical procedure that requires hyperactive situational awareness and a thought-out stratagem. Driving slowly and deliberately isn’t enough: if you don’t plan correctly, that just means you’ll scrape the undercarriage in excruciating slow motion. (And I don’t want to know what happens if you bottom out at high speed.)

Visibility

Visibility is something that is a huge concern for a supercar. You sit very low and there are massive blind spots. Not only that, they aren’t very ergonomic either, given the lack of rear visibility. Thus driving the car in traffic will be a pain with people trying to cut here and there. You also need to realize that being so low slung, you may not be visible to people in SUVs either so they may not even see that you are lurking behind.

Service time

While a  normal car can take one or two days to service, a super car can take up to one week or even more. Even fixing parts like headbulbs and placing an order for a spare part can take one or two days. Maintaining a super car is costly.

Expensive Lifestyle

Supercars aren’t allowed to be dirty. Heck, they aren’t allowed to be smudged. Fingerprints must be immediately buffed out. And let’s not even talk about that which birds will sometimes do in the vicinity of cars. You’re best off keeping your supercar inside when it rains.

Super Expensive Tyres

Just as the name super cars so also are their tyres super expensive, and they can go bad really quickly. Getting a new set will need you going through the dealers.Years ago the internet almost melted when it was discovered that a set of Michelins for a Bugatti Veyron cost a whopping sum.
