Reasons Why You Should Not Allow Your Car Sleep Over in a Mechanic Shop in Nigeria

Leaving your car overnight is possible in other countries but certainly not in Nigeria except your car is being worked on by high-end auto workshops in the country. One decision you might regret is leaving your car at an auto workshop, especially those popular roadside ones.

Well, if your car is not a fancy one, you can take that big risk. Still, it is not advisable to do that regardless of your kind of car. Mechanics do not put the sign “at owners risk” at their shops but you need to put that sign at the back of your mind.

Here are Reasons Why Leaving Cars Overnight at Roadside Mechanic Shops is a Bad Idea

Many things could happen to your treasured car while lying there all through the night in an unsafe mechanic workshop location.

  1. Higher Chance of More Damages

When you park your car overnight at a roadside mechanic workshop for repair, there is a high possibility that the mechanic could incur more damages on yours due to his incompetence or might even use some irreplaceable parts in your car to quickly fix another client’s car. When you pick up your car the next day, you might not have a clue of the damage done to your car until it starts showing the signs.

  1. Your Car Could be Used for Personal Purposes

Imagine the feeling when you decide to take a short night city tour after parking your car, only to discover that the cab you are in, is your car that was just parked a few hours ago. Some mechanics in Nigeria have the habit of taking advantage of their clients’ cars for either personal or business purposes.

It is important to know that some of them are careful to avoid suspicion by cleaning your car. Another hint you might overlook is having more fuel in your car. Mechanics are not that large-hearted to buy fuel into a client’s car from their own pocket.

  1. Your Car Might Get Stolen

You could lose your car if parked overnight at a roadside workshop. It might be the mechanic or even car thieves. If you attempt to park an expensive car overnight at a roadside mechanic workshop, you are taking a huge risk. The most you could do is arrest the mechanic. The case will be dragged along and you might end up getting tired or spending a lot of money paying your lawyer.

How to Prevent Issues Like These From Happening

If you are thinking of patronizing the high-end auto workshop, your car might be safe overnight. If not, you will need to see what you must do to avoid letting your car sleep over at a regular mechanic workshop.

  1. Invite a trusted mechanic to fix your car right in your garage or close to your house. This allows you to keep an eye on your car.
  2. Ensure your mechanic returns the car to you each day whether they are done or not.
  3. Get someone to supervise your car when the repair is being done on it. This will prevent any smart move by the mechanic.

Conclusion

Allowing your car to sleep over at a regular mechanic workshop in Nigeria is a huge risk car owners should avoid at all costs. You might get lucky one time, but that’s not always the case.
