Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed Biography
Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed was born on the 7th of July, 1969 in Zaria. He is one of the 33 offspring of Baba Ahmed. Baba Ahmed, his father, was an Arab cattle dealer from the now Mauritania who subsequently rose to prominence as a lecturer and authority on Islamic law.
Currently, the 53-year-old Vice President aspirant is married with children whose identities are yet to be disclosed. Yusuf received his university education at the University of Maiduguri. He has his Bachelor’s degree in science and Masters’s degree in Economics from the University of Maiduguri in Borno State. It was after his university education that he gradually moved into politics.

In April 2003, she was elected to the Federal House of Representatives for the Zaria Federal Constituency, Kaduna State where he ran under the platform of the All Nigeria People’s Party.
He was popular for his principled activism. During the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo, he was among the lawmakers who opposed Obasanjo’s interest in running for a third term.
In May 2006, he said he would not run for reelection unless action was taken to investigate allegations that members had been bribed to support the constitutional changes needed for a third-term presidency. While speaking at an Islamic forum in Abuja in September 2008, Baba-Ahmed called on journalists to fearlessly submit accurate reports. He noted that corruption in the country is endemic, and special prayers and determination from all stakeholders are needed to correct the situation.
Subsequently, Baba-Ahmed became the Managing Director of Baze Research and Data Services Ltd.
He is the founder and Pro-Chancellor of Baze University, an independent university located in Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria which started in April 2011.
During the inauguration of the university, Baba-Ahmed cited his studies abroad as a benchmark, he said that the Nigerian educational system was “appalling” and that this inspired him to start Baze University.
In April 2011, Baba-Ahmed contested as Senator for Kaduna North where he polled 366,3398 votes.
