President Bola Tinubu‘s latest supplementary budget proposal has ignited debate and raised eyebrows, as it outlines a substantial allocation of over N6.9 billion for the procurement of vehicles within the State House. Additionally, the Office of the First Lady is set to receive a generous N1.5 billion for the acquisition of new cars. This allocation is a notable component of the comprehensive Supplementary Budget recently submitted by President Tinubu to the National Assembly for approval.
It is worth noting that the President had previously forwarded a substantial N2.17 trillion Supplementary Budget to the National Assembly, setting the stage for discussions and deliberations regarding these proposed expenditures.
The breakdown of the proposed allocation reveals an expenditure of N2.9 billion dedicated to the acquisition of Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) for the Presidential Villa. Another N2.9 billion is earmarked for the replacement of existing vehicles within the official fleet. This sizeable allocation for vehicles raises questions and comes at a time when Nigerians are still expressing their discontent over the National Assembly’s decision to procure vehicles worth N75 billion.

In the proposed supplementary budget, a total of N28 billion is slated for expenditure within the State House, encompassing various aspects of government operations. Additionally, a substantial sum of N12.5 billion is allocated for the Presidential Air Fleet.
