Before Elon Musk launched his new business and identity of only rolling with electric vehicles, the billionaire used to own a combustion-engine vehicle that cost him $1 million to purchase in 1999.

The vehicle is none other than the McLaren F1 he purchased at the age of 28 after he sold his first company, Zip2 in 1999 for $22 million.

Only 106 models of this F1 were ever produced and it was owned by some of the wealthiest and most renowned figures in history.

However, Elon Musk sold the vehicle for a profit in 2007 as he was about to start Tesla, to enable him to build a new brand identity away from combustion-engine vehicles. While the owner of Elon Musk’s McLaren F1 is not known, the vehicle is said to be worth $20-$25 million today, which is about N20 – N25 billion.
