Elon Musk has made a bold claim about the new Tesla Roadster, stating it will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in one second, a performance metric that pushes the boundaries of current electric vehicle technology.
The announcement comes as part of a series of updates from Musk, who also noted that the Roadster’s production model reveal is scheduled for late this year, with customer deliveries expected to begin in 2025.
Scepticism surrounds Musk’s claim, especially considering the McMurtry Sperling, a non-road-legal vehicle, currently holds a record acceleration of 1.4 seconds, questioning the feasibility of such performance in a larger, road-legal car like the Tesla Roadster.
