A Nigerian man identified as Musa Ibrahim, who resides in Jiwa village Abuja, has been sentenced after he pleaded guilty to breach of trust, cheating and theft.
This took place on the 14th of June, 2022 at the Grade I Area Court Abuja where the 30-year-old mechanic was charged for stealing his customer’s car.
The judge that presided over the case was, Mr Sulyman Ola. He provided Ibrahim with the bail option of a 30,000 Naira fine.

He also ordered him to return the car or pay 1.5 million as compensation to the complainant. The judge also held that if the convict failed to pay the compensation, he would serve nine months in prison.
The judge also pointed out that the punishment would have been stiff if the convict had not saved the court from the rigours of a stretched trail.
He also warned the convict to get his acts together and be a law-abiding citizen.
Ibrahim also had earlier pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.
He told the court that he sold the car to pay his children’s school fees.
According to the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada, the complainant, Maria Itulah of 69 roads Gwarinpa, reported the matter at the Galadima Police Station on June 4th.
Ogada also said that sometime in June 2021, the complainant gave the convict her Golf III car with 240,000 thousand Naira to buy a new engine and to do some bodywork.
He told the court that after the convict collected the money, he absconded with the car.
The prosecutor pointed out that the convict dishonestly sold the car and converted the money to his personal use but on June 4, he was arrested at Jiwa village and handed over to the police.
The prosecutor also added that during the investigation, a confessional statement came from the convict who admitted that he sold the car for 300,000 thousand Naira without documents and the consent of the complainant.
Mr Chinedu Ogada, the prosecutor told the court that all efforts made to recover the car were abortive and the offence contravened Sections 312, 322 and 287 of the Penal Code.
