Remember The iconic Mercedes-Benz C 111 concept of the 1970s? Meet its 21st-century counterpart – Mercedes Vision One-Eleven

The Mercedes-Benz Vision One-Eleven idea is a modern homage to the famous Mercedes-Benz C111 experimental prototype from the 1970s. The original C111 had many different engine combinations, but the Vision One-Eleven is mostly an exercise in design.

It has the same gullwing doors and sleek design as its predecessor. It also has an oval-shaped front end, two circles for taillights, and two vents on the hood.

The C111 is shaped like a wedge, but the Vision One-Eleven uses the Mercedes-EQ “one-bow” design language, which gives it a curvy, cab-forward look. Axially-flux electric motors made by Mercedes company YASA make it possible for the idea to sit low to the ground.

These motors have more power per unit size than regular radial-flux motors, which gives you more options for where to put them. The Vision One-Eleven is supposed to have four separate motors that could put out a total of 1,000 kilowatts, which is equivalent to 1,300 horsepower.

Inside Vision One-Eleven, the silver, orange, and white colour design is a nod to the 1970s. The low bucket seats and full-length glass roof give it a sporty look, and the augmented-reality interior has virtual buttons for guidance and entertainment.

Mercedes-Benz hasn’t said if the Vision One-Eleven will go into production, but parts of its design, like the axial-flux electric motors, could be used in future Mercedes cars, especially those in the AMG range. Even though the idea isn’t likely to become a real car, its style and technology are an exciting mix of Mercedes’s past and future.
