Have you ever wondered who the first black man to own a private jet is? Well, there’s certainly a black man who first had the private jet before other black people across the globe gradually started having one. He also bought his private jet at a time when it was a crime for black people to sit in public buses.

The man is none other than James Brown. James Joseph Brown is an American musician. Many refer to him as the ‘Hardest Working Man in Show Business,” “Godfather of Soul,” “Mr Dynamite” and “Soul Brother No. 1.”

He was born on the 3rd of May 1933 and died on the 25th of December 2006. While alive, he had an estimated net worth of over $100 million.

He bought the Learjet 23 in 1966, which made him a hero. He bought the private jet from aircraft dealer Robert Graff. The private jet immediately placed him in an exclusive club that included white superstars like Frank Sinatra. James Brown purchased the private jet for ease of travelling to perform his shows across different cities.
