Do This Before Thinking Of Buying Any Car

The fact that you are reading this means you are about to buy a car, so, CONGRATULATIONS! The truth is; that buying a car is a huge deal, especially in Nigeria where fraudsters are everywhere looking for people to dupe, so you have to be very careful. I would first advise visiting www.carmart.ng/carForSale to view the list of cars available for purchase, and compare the prices on each of the ads on the platform before making your decision. walking into any car dealership with no price and car in mind will leave you confused and you might end up buying a problem instead of a good car

Below is a list of things you should look out for when buying a car:

  1. First of all, visit any trusted dealer listed on www.carmart.ng, not random people. In Nigeria, most people buy fairly used cars and as a result, so many people have ended up buying stolen cars because they got the car from the wrong person. So, how do you avoid this: visit a trusted dealership. Avoid buying a car from your ‘friend’s sister’s colleague’. No matter how good the car looks or how juicy the offer is.
  1. Do your research! Reading this is part of your research. People must have obviously told you that Toyota is better than Honda and vice versa. While these advisors may mean well, I’ll suggest you find out for yourself. How do you find out? Begin by asking yourself some questions:
  • What is my budget?
  • What kind of car do I want?
  • What do I need in a car?
  • What kind of car don’t I want?
  1. Get a basic understanding of how a car works. Understand those terms used frequently by car owners. At least, know what plugs are, brake pad, gearbox, dashboard lights, etc. So you can know what you are really getting into. Most importantly, you should know these things so that when you eventually get a car, you don’t get confused and extorted by a mechanic when one of these things is the problem with your car.
  1. Learn how to drive. I can never understand how people buy a car, then park it in front of their houses for days just because they haven’t learnt how to drive. Why make payment for something you cannot use yet? Some do this with the hope of learning with the car but I don’t think that is advisable because driving schools have their own vehicle. Besides, I’m sure you don’t want to bash your car while learning how to drive. For safety reasons, please put an ‘L’ signal in front of the car to show other road users that you are learning how to drive. Trust me, there is no shame in learning, everyone learns
  1. Lastly, try visiting different trusted dealerships before you finally settle. Make sure you are not under any form of pressure to buy from any dealer. That is why it is always advisable you go with a third party during your search for an automobile to purchase. It is quite difficult to deceive or persuade two or more persons and that is what a lot of car dealers are out to do. Try not to fall for their tricks so you don’t end up buying a car which will eventually make you close friends with a mechanic.

Taking the following steps into consideration, I wish you the best of luck in finding the best vehicle to suit your needs.
