Asake Biography

Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake was born on the 13th of January 13, 1995. He is a famous Nigerian musician, singer, and songwriter loved by millions of Afrobeats fans for his vocal prowess, style, and catchy lyrics.

Asake hails from the South West region of Nigeria; he is a Yoruba, born and raised in Lagos with his family. Asake comes from a Muslim home. While growing up, his father worked as an entrepreneur while his mother was a teacher.

He studied theatre and performing arts at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, where he obtained his degree after graduation.

Asake Career

Asake’s interest in music and entertainment began as a young boy when he was a dancer. As a young boy, he loved to dance and was particularly good at it. His speciality was in cultural dance, which made him spend his free hours improving his skills. While in secondary school, he performed at school events and thrilled his schoolmates and staff with his performance. During that period, he got the nickname Asake—a Yoruba endearing term. During this time, he was also a drummer and member of the school’s music band. 

Asake started making music professionally in 2015. He notes that he was inspired by music stars like Olamide, Davido, Wizkid, 9ice, and Wande Coal. He joined the Afrobeat music space, focusing his music on Afrofusion songs. He blends Hip Hop, Amapiano, R&B, and Fuji sounds to create music that stands out from other artiste’s 

Asake started working as a backup singer for Broda Shaggi’s band, performing at shows and events across the country. He later collaborated with Broda Shaggi to release the single “Star” in 2019. The song did well in the market, but it was the first time many people got to know him. Encouraged by this, he decided to release his first single in 2020. 

Asake’s first break out in the industry was with the release of the single, “Lady.” He promoted this song through advertisements with Sydney Talker, Tunde Ednut, NastyBlaq, and Broda Shaggi. The song went viral, leading him to drop the next hit song, “Mr. Money,” which also gained him a new nickname—Mr. Money. He later rose to the limelight after being signed to YBNL Records by the record boss, Olamide. Other songs that increased his popularity was “Mr. Money” and “Sungba.”

In 2022 Asake dropped another single, “Omo Ope.” The song immediately went viral; it got to the ears of many rappers and music executives. Shortly after this, Olamide signed him to YBNL Records, and he was unveiled as a YBNL signee on the 8th of February, 2022.

After this, Asake released his debut EP, “Ololade Asake.” The music project contains four hit tracks—Omo Ope, Sungba, Trabaye, and Baba God. He later performed “Baba God” at a live session organized by Glitch Africa in February 2022.

He collaborated with Burna Boy and released a remix for Sungba on the 28th of March, 2022; he has topped music charts for several weeks. Since then, Asake has released several hit songs, with many of his fans swooning. Some of his songs include;
