Ahmed Musa began his football career in the GBS football academy in Jos. In 2008, he was loaned to JUTH.FC, where he played in 18 games. He was then sent to Kano Pillars F.C., on another loan. He used to hold the record for the highest number of goals ever made in one season in Nigerian Premier League history. In 2010, Ahmed Musa was transferred to VVV-Venlo, a Dutch club but he was unable to play at the time because he was 17 years of age.
