A manager at Amazon who pulled off a bold $10 million fraud and used the money to buy a Lamborghini and a house where she and her co-conspirator lover lived is going to prison.

Kayricka Wortham, 32, was in charge of operations at the e-commerce giant’s Atlanta warehouse. On Wednesday, the Department of Justice said that Wortham was sentenced to 16 years in a federal jail for leading a scheme in which six other people stole $9.4 million from the e-commerce giant.

The DOJ said that she and her 37-year-old lover Brittany Hudson used the stolen money to live a lavish lifestyle.

The couple bought a bunch of expensive cars, including a Tesla, a Porsche, and a Lamborghini. They also bought a $1 million home in Smyrna, Ga., a neighbourhood of Atlanta near Wortham’s Amazon warehouse.

Wortham worked at the Amazon site from about August 2020 to March 2022. In September 2017, he was charged with bank theft, and in November, he pleaded guilty.

The cars and houses that Wortham bought with the stolen money were worth about $2.7 million, so the government took them away.

Wortham, who went to court on her own behalf, was also told to pay Amazon $9.5 million in compensation and will have to do three years of supervised release after her long sentence.

Nick Lotito, an attorney who was on call for her, said that the term was “greater than necessary,” as reported by The New York Times.
