4 Of The Fastest SUVs That Leave Their Competitors In The Dust In 2023

The SUV market has grown over the years, with many car manufacturers producing their version of SUV rides. These SUVs are suitable for a wide range of drivers because each one generally has better cargo space and seating area than you’ll find in small sedans. However, speed is still one area that most SUVs are still lagging.

The average SUV can hit 60 mph in about 7-8 seconds, though larger SUVs are typically the slowest. There are a few exceptions to the rule, though. The exception to this rule is mostly SUVs that belong to the luxury and electric segment. Here are the four fastest SUVs you can buy in the Nigerian market today.

2023 Porsche Cayenne

Of course, your dealership in Nigeria will have to import the car for you. But it’s still on the top list of fastest SUVs if that’s what you’re looking for. The Cayenne comes with a base turbo V6 engine that can reach 60 mph in under 6 seconds. The Cayenne S is one second faster, powered by a twin-turbo 434 horsepower V6.

The other three trims offer a trim-turbo V8 under their hoods, which makes 626 horsepower in the Turbo GT model. When equipped with the Sport Chrono package, it produces 631 horsepower and can hit 60 mph in a mere 3.1 seconds. The Porsche Cayenne is also available as a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle that gets between 13 to 27 miles of range.

2022 Lamborghini Urus

If you are looking for another SUV on this list, it has to be the 2022 Urus. It reaches 60 mph in 3.1 seconds. Every Urus has a twin-turbo V8 capable of 657 horsepower and a top speed of 190 mph.

The fuel economy of the Urus is low as it is estimated at 12 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway. Still, the Urus also offers a pleasing engine note and satisfying handling thanks to carbon-ceramic brakes and a standard air suspension.

2023 Aston Martin DBX

The DBX is relatively more affordable than the Urus and slightly more efficient. Standard models are powered by a twin-turbo 542 horsepower V8 that promises 14 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway. More importantly for thrill seekers, it also promises a top speed of 181 mph and a 0 to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds.

The Aston DBX007 claims to hit 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 193 mph. According to Aston Martin, this model comes with standard Pirelli racing tires and an upgraded suspension.

2022 Tesla Model X

The Tesla Model X Plaid is currently the quickest SUV you can buy. The Tesla is reported to reach 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. It also has a whopping 1,020 horsepower on tap and 333 miles of electric range, though that will naturally shrink under heavy acceleration.

The Tesla X Dual Motor is also faster than most SUVs, claiming to reach 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. It also gets up to 348 miles of electric range, and its powertrain generates 640 horsepower combined.

Conclusion

If you want to buy fast SUVs in 2023, these listed SUVs are on the top list of fastest SUVs you’ll find. However, to get most of them into Nigeria, you’ll have to place an order yourself or through your dealership.
