In the compact sedan class, the 2014 Toyota Corolla can’t be put aside. The 2014 model comes redesigned with advanced styling, better fuel economy, more reliability compared to previous year’s models. Describing the design ethos of the 2014 Camry model, Toyota termed it ‘Iconic Dynamism’  calling the new look ‘athletic’, which is obviously true.

It’s no unusual thing for Toyota to have various trims of any car they manufacture. The 2014 comes with four different trim levels including L, LE, LE Eco and S. All but the L are further offered in Plus and Premium sub-trims.

Standard features on the base L model include 15-inch steel wheels, LED headlights (low beams only), power windows and mirrors, air-conditioning, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a height-adjustable driver seat, a 60/40-split-folding rear seat, Bluetooth phone connectivity, steering wheel audio controls and a four-speaker sound system with a CD player, a USB/iPod interface and an auxiliary audio jack.

The LE adds 16-inch steel wheels, heated mirrors, variable intermittent wipers, keyless entry, metallic cabin accents, cruise control, power door locks, automatic climate control, a rearview camera, a six-speaker sound system with a 6-inch touchscreen display, and Bluetooth audio connectivity and phonebook download capability. The LE Plus adds alloy wheels and foglights, while the LE Premium further adds premium vinyl upholstery.

The LE Eco includes the LE features and adds specific engine and transmission tuning, low-rolling-resistance tires, a rear spoiler, and enhanced aerodynamics. The LE Eco Plus adds alloy wheels, fog lights, chrome beltline trim, and an Eco driving mode, while the LE Eco Premium adds premium vinyl upholstery.

The S includes the LE features and adds a chrome grille frame, fog lights, color-keyed mirrors with signal repeaters, a rear spoiler, front sport seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, upgraded instrumentation, a trip computer and piano black accents. The S Plus adds 17-inch alloy wheels, firmer suspension tuning and rear disc brakes, while the S Premium gets premium vinyl upholstery.

2014 Toyota Corolla Exterior

With the pronounced front-end design, 2014 Corolla has a bold and aggressive look, which seems to fascinate its lovers. It also comes standard with LED low-beam headlights, and taillights, with a gaping lower grille. Toyota points out that moving to an LED design for the headlamps (for the low beams) helped allow the corner of the vehicle to be more rounded.

2014 Toyota Corolla Engine

A standard front-wheel drive powers the 2014 Corolla with either one of two 1.8-liter four-cylinder engines. The L, LE, and S trims of Corolla are powered by a base 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 132 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque.

For those who are very conservative about fuel, the LE-Eco is the best choice (anyways, that’s why it was made in the first place). A 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine propels the LE-Eco, which has a broader range of continuously variable valve timing and increases engine output by more than five percent to 140-horsepower.

The LE, S, and LE Eco models all use a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Paired with the immaculate engine, is either a six-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic transmission,

2014 Toyota Corolla Interior

With the aggressive exterior, one would almost expect the inner confines of the Corolla to be equally fascinating. The interior is quite simple and conservative, however, added features to the 2014 model are high quality materials which give a unique glow to the inner space as well as Keyless ignition/entry.

The leather seats can conveniently contain five passengers. Rear seat passengers get to enjoy nearly 5 inches more rear legroom, which will also make it easier to fit rear-facing child safety seats. S trims, however, have seats that combine leather-like Softex bolsters with coarse, color-toned fabrics in between. Adjustable and longer bottom cushions make the front seats more comfortable to allow a better driving experience. The truck has been remodeled to allow for more cargo space.

Safety features available on the 2014 Toyota Corolla includes eight standard airbags along with Toyota’s Star Safety system, which includes vehicle stability control, traction control, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, and brake assist, and standard Smart Stop Technology brake-override system.
