Amongst the 36 states in Nigeria, none is as densely populated with cars as Lagos State. According to records, Lagos State accounts for 30% of all Nigerian traffic. This is no surprise considering that Lagos is a fast-growing city that contributes a lot to the economy of Nigeria.

Once upon a time, all road traffic-related issues fell on the shoulders of the Federal Road Safety Corp. In addition, the Federal Government once held the monopoly of issuing vehicle licenses, including Lagos state vehicle registration.
