Mr. Segun Obayendo, the Group Managing Director of Temple Group Limited recently said in a statement that computerized vehicle inspection is a necessary tool for improving road safety.

Having said this, he goes on to encourage motorists to embrace the government’s newly introduced computerized inspections, pointing that it has proven to deliver accurate roadworthiness status of vehicles to reduce carnages and improve safety of motorists and other road users.

This statement was made by Segun Obayendo after receiving the award for “Best Road Transport Technology Provider of the Year” this weekend at the maiden edition of the National Transport Technology Conference & Exhibition gala/awards night, organized by the Nigeria Transport Commissioners’ Forum.
While receiving the award from the Corp Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, Segun Obayendo thanked the organisers of the conference for pulling together stakeholders from the Federal Ministry of Transportation and its parastatals, as well as other experts in transport technology and modal transportation within and outside the country, to brainstorm on topical issues concerning the present and future of the industry in Nigeria.
Segun Obayendo who is also the Managing Director of Lagos Computerized Vehicle Inspection Service (LACVIS), said: “The time is ripe to embrace intelligent transport as captured by the theme of the event, “Multimodality and Interconnectivity: Achieving a Greener Transport Systems in Nigeria
“I’ll request all motorists and road users in Nigeria to avert road mishaps by going for regular computerized vehicle inspection to prevent accidents by decreasing the number of defective vehicles on the roads. For a couple of decades now, such periodic vehicle inspection has been a standing legislation in many countries worldwide and Nigeria must not be left behind.”
The Computerized Vehicle Inspection service began in Abuja as the Abuja Computerized Vehicle Testing Centre and is now operational in over 28 states including Lagos, Ondo, Kano, and Rivers.
Segun Obayendo also got the award for “Best Road Transport Technology Provider.” Similarly, Lagos State won the Best Transportation Infrastructure Award (SouthWest) while Ogun State got the “Emerging Transportation Infrastructural Hub in Nigeria” awards amongst others.
