Some Nigerians have taken to the Instablog comment section to express their dissatisfaction regarding Davido’s recent purchases of a new Rolls Royce and a Tesla Cybertruck. According to Tunde Ednut, the 2024 Tesla Cybertruck is priced at $165,000 (₦280,500,000), while the 2024 Rolls Royce Spectre costs $544,000 (₦924,000,000).
In response to the post, many fans expressed their frustration over how Nigerian celebrities showcase luxury cars while foreigners come to Africa to invest in development. One commenter from Updatenaija247 said, “Kai Cenat is building schools in Makoko, TI is building schools in Ghana, and Akon is constructing schools along with a smart city in Senegal. Meanwhile, all our celebrities do is buy mega cars to flaunt their wealth in a society that is largely impoverished. Our values as a people are not right, especially when you realize that the millions we fight for are often those who will still criticize my comment.”
Further pointing out Davido’s actions, his best friend Cubana Chief Priest shared moments of Davido’s Rolls Royce and Tesla Cybertruck being shipped to Nigeria. He wrote, “There’s a reason we call him the GOAT 🐐. Just wait to see how this December unfolds. With electric money ⚡️, we’re going to turn Lagos upside down! Do they have the money? 💸 #30BG.”
