The new Governor of Anambra State, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, was sworn in in the state government compound yesterday, March 17, 2022. Soludo has become the state’s sixth governor. Onyekachi Ibezim was sworn in as Anambra State deputy governor. The state judge Onochie Anyachebelu led the two to take the oath of office.

Surprisingly, Soludo and his Dupty governor have become the first Nigerian Governor to use IVM Vehicles as his official car after the recently sworn-in governor drove to his inauguration on Thursday in an Armoured Innoson IVM G80 SUV. The newly inaugurated governor of Anambra State became the first governor in Nigerian to use the Nigerian-made automobile IVM (Innoson Manufacturing motors) produced by Innoson Motors as his official vehicle.

He kept to his promise of using an indigenous vehicle at his inauguration yesterday. An IVM jeep was used to convey him to the venue of the inauguration as his official vehicle as governor of the state.
The Governor has been very particular about promoting made-in-Nigeria products as seen in his wearing of outfits made by local designers and stating firmly that to induce growth we must support our own. He stated that the Anambra government will only patronise ‘Made in Anambra products, except in cases where there is no “Made in Anambra alternative.”
An excerpt from the original speech by Governor Charles Soludo as governor can be found below. He began by warning protesters in the state to give up if they no longer wanted to stay because “Anambra we are talking about is a place of peace”.
At the beginning of his speech, he thanked his Deputy, Mr Gilbert Ibezim, and Mrs Francess Soludo. He recalled and paid tribute to the police officers who were shot dead when he went to the polls in Isofia last year. He called their names as; Inspector Murtala Saudi, Mudashiru Ahmed and Samuel Ishaya who was shot dead by unknown assailants.
He also thanked the Governor who handed over the reins to him, Willie Madababurochukwu Obiano. He said he was grateful for the commitment he had made to him over the years, and said he was a good leader.
He also thanked All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) party leader Victor Ike Oye and all his party members for their support.
Soludo also took the opportunity to thank the committee set up by him for the 150-member board headed by Oby Ezekwesili.
He thanked the security forces and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their efforts in making the 2021 election success. He also thanked Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari for his support for democracy. He asserted that his debt was owed to all of his hard work during his tenure as president.
Soludo said it had been a while since they had won the election with a smile on their faces and said “now the time has come”.
He said he would focus on ensuring security in Anambra state mainly as the attacks intensified in the state. Soludo said he was not interested in taxing women in the business world, and said he would make sure he pays regular wages and pensions. He added that today stands the ground for all those who have taken over Igbo land from Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Chiwoke Mbadi and Uju, Christina Onoh, Jim Nwobodo, Peter Obi and Willie Obiano. He says he is convinced that many people trust him. In his speech, he described how people trusted him so much that he felt he had to raise his hand and all problems will be gone.
