The Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) season 5 lockdown edition saw many housemates through. Many housemates gathered some fans from the house, some got haters, and some got endorsements, money, cars, houses, and trips to different countries. The season saw many housemates like Dorathy Bacor, Neo Akpofure, Nengi Hampson, Laycon, Kiddwaya, Trickytee, Kaisha, and 13 other housemates. After spending 71 days together in the house, after some evictions and one disqualification the winner of the season was Laycon, with Dorathy as the runner-up of the season.

The only housemate to get disqualified from this year’s edition was Erica Nlewedim. Before getting disqualified, she had attracted thousands of fans from across Nigeria, African countries, and Africans in Diaspora. And after her exit from the house, she received numerous support from her fans including a gofundme account with a goal which was created to help her afford the chance of getting the prize money of N85 million that she was robbed of.

About Erica Nlewedim

Erica was born Ngozi Erica Nlewedim on the 13^th of March 1994 in Abia State, Nigeria to Eric Nlewedim and Oby Nwokolo. She is also a native of Abia State and was raised by her mom, as a single parent. She attended Victory Grammar School, Lagos for her Secondary school education before proceeding to Command Secondary school to complete her secondary school education. She furthered her education by going to Covenant University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and graduated in 2013. 

She moved to the United Kingdom to pursue a degree in Acting from the Met Film School in London. In 2013, she became the brand ambassador for Natures Gentle touch, a natural hair care company. After 2013, she also worked for Nigerian brands like Glo, and Jumia, and became the face brand for Access Bank, Maltina, and Zaron Cosmetics, from 2015 to 2017. In 2014, she participated in the MBGN pageant and won the Miss Photogenic award from the pageant. 

After her win, she worked with bigger brands and bigger colleagues in the industry which led her to feature in a Peak Milk TV advert starring Folarin Falana (Falz).

She started her acting career in 2015 when she clinched a lead role in Secrets and Scandals. She has also acted in Royal Castle, Poka Messiah, Hire a woman, Once Upon a Night, and other Nollywood movies.

In 2018, she founded Erica Nlewedim Foundation, an NGO that caters to underprivileged children. In December 2019, her foundation launched its Hunger Heroes Campaign which fed 1,000 children on the streets of Lagos, Nigeria. She is also the CEO of Beluxia Hair.

Upon her disqualification from the house, her fans donated to the gofundme account set up for her, and it amassed a total donation of $72, 317 (N27, 588, 935.50). She also won several prize monies while in the house and altogether it put her at an estimated net worth of $100,000.

The actress ordered the vehicle through Mayfair Autos Limited, with options including the Velar, GLE Coupe, and Range Rover Sport. She claimed that the size of the car and the interior space were crucial elements in determining which car she would buy because she needed enough space inside for her pet dog.

Bobrisky then sent a sum of N1 million to Erica and promised to sponsor her on an all-paid trip to Dubai during the year.

Before becoming a contestant in the reality show, it is unknown whether Erica had a car or not.
