The Lexus lineup is geared towards hybridization, the 2021 Lexus LX with only one engine option in the US, a 5.7-litre V8, producing an under-stressed 383 horsepower and 403 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent through a robust four-wheel-drive system, with the LX’s body-on-frame design and V8 engine combination providing excellent off-road and towing capabilities.

To feed the 383-hp 5.7-liter V-8 under the hood, the LX ingests gargantuan gulps of air, an action that is anything but quiet. Boasting unequalled off-road victories, the LX offers the capability of Crawl Control, Multi-Terrain Select, Active Height Control, and more. While Variable Gear-Ratio Steering provides a greater steering response.

With impressive low-end torque and a 7,000-lb towing capacity, the LX is loaded with possibilities. For peace of mind, Trailer Sway Control can detect and help curb trailer movement from wind, bumpy roads, or steering operations.

The LX comes in both a two- and three-row arrangement; considering its size, we’d opt for the three-row since having a couple of extra seats is never a terrible thing. The base level comes well-equipped with in-dash navigation, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, an all-wheel-drive, an adaptive suspension, and plenty of driver-assistance features. The 2021 Lexus LX has a huge presence, but the big body doesn’t necessarily translate to a grand ballroom of an interior. Every row of seating is livable, although none of them offers exceptional space. The 2021 Lexus LX may not be the most advanced vehicle in the world, especially considering its infotainment system doesn’t even have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, only Siri Eyes Free and Amazon Alexa. However, it has a truly stunning cabin that is tastefully and solidly appointed.

Atop the dash sits a large 12.3-inch infotainment display. It doesn’t have touch capability, but like the rest of the car, it’s neither flashy nor cheap. There’s plenty of room for those in the first row, but the other two rows aren’t particularly spacious. Still, at least this car comes standard with plenty of features, including heated power-adjustable front seats and four-zone automatic climate control.
