The ride feels like you are driving a truck but it removes all bumps and avoids feeling busy over rough pavement. Noise from the road and from other traffic is nicely muted, and the motor settles into a deep, modest rumble when driving. The seats are nicely cushioned and well supported as well but they are also narrow, especially for an SUV in this class. There is also wind noise over the square body and noticeable whistling from around the pillars at freeway speeds.
For the technological features, the AMG G63 is stuck with Mercedes’ old COMAND system rather than a newer version which is the MBUX. It is not a bad system, but it has more limitations in terms of functionality. The navigation display and commands are less modern, and the voice commands are limited compared to MBUX.
Adaptive cruise control works very well, just that it lacks the traffic jam assist features of most Mercedes products. Lane-keeping is shocking and quick in its intervention, engaging the brakes to drag the vehicle back into line.
