When driving, several automotive functions are mishandled by drivers; it’s crucial to operate your car properly to get its full benefits. There are several elements and functions in automobiles that strive to ensure the driver and passengers are always safe; the car engine is not the only crucial component. However, drivers frequently unwittingly abuse several car features. You may say that these drivers mistreat their cars.

These cars’ functions need to be correctly used because if drivers keep misusing them, it can lead to a breakdown. And we all don’t want our cars to have issues. That is why we need to move away from the norm and start using them correctly. That is why we have made this post, for you to learn to use these car functions

Fuel Gauge

The fuel gauge serves as a gauge for the amount of gasoline in your car’s gas tank. The purpose of each gauge on the dashboard should be made clear to every driver. We want to be clear about two things in relation to the fuel gauge.

The first is that the fuel gauge needle’s orientation does not identify which side of the automobile has the fuel door leading to the gasoline tank. The direction of the arrow next to the gas station logo symbol on the gauge is the sole reliable indicator. However, the arrow can still be deceptive because the automobile might have been modified to a left-hand drive when it was brought to Nigeria. The best approach to determining the location of the gas door is to visually inspect it.

The second is that, even with your fuel light on, you can still travel more than 30 miles. Never put off refuelling until the fuel gauge reaches the “E” mark. The light that illuminates while the automobile is running on reserve gasoline should act as your indication of when to replenish.

Small Tab Under Rearview Mirror

Do you recall seeing a little tab under your rearview mirror? This tab, which is labelled “dimmer switch,” is for nighttime driving. When a car coming up from behind you has its headlights on while you are driving at night, it will reflect in your rearview mirror and make you blind.

When you turn that switch, the mirror tilt is adjusted to lessen the headlights’ dazzling impact on the mirror. When driving at night, you should only move the tab forward or backwards if you are being dazzled by the lights of oncoming vehicles. Your rearview should be adjusted normally during the day.

The lights that show on the mirror while you drive at night are automatically dimmed by a button on newer cars that acts as a dimmer control. Through electrochromism, this is accomplished. Materials can change colour as a result of the process known as electrochromism when various energy levels are applied to them.

Improper Braking

When you need to slow down your automobile, the brakes are one of the most crucial parts of the vehicle. But many drivers, particularly inexperienced ones, abuse the braking mechanism by slamming on the brakes anytime a car is coming up behind them on a single road. There are two lanes; all you have to do is continue driving while staying in your lane. There is no need to brake when a vehicle is coming. Everything will be alright as long as it stays in its lane. Your automobile uses more gas when it abruptly brakes. We recognize that there is a constant feeling of dread whenever an automobile approaches from behind you at a distance. To get better gas mileage, practice maintaining your lanes, and stop braking instantly.

Improper Use Of Cruise Control

A car’s cruise control feature enables drivers to travel without pressing the accelerator pedal. An automobile with cruise control automatically maintains a set speed. Even though they are well aware that the route includes many turns and breaks that would require continual braking of the vehicle, many individuals nonetheless turn on cruise control. It is recommended to utilize cruise control on long, smooth, and mostly straight routes.

Using Night-Time Parking Lights

Those little lights incorporated into the headlights and taillights are parking lights. Red is often towards the back and yellows up front. Automakers install low-wattage lights on vehicles so that they may be parked next to busy roadways at night and left on. As a result, other motorists will be able to see the automobile from a distance with the lights coming from the front or the back. Absolutely; they won’t deplete your battery even after several hours of use while you park. It won’t even deplete your battery if you leave it on all night. Parking lights, however, might be one of the many causes of battery warning lights appearing on your dashboard.
