With the 2024 Toyota Tacoma base trim, you will get a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, Toyota says it has 228 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque in the base SR Tacoma. The SR version also comes with an 8-speed automatic or optional six-speed manual transmission. The SR is also available in double cab form with the five-foot bed and XtraCab with the six-foot bed
If you choose the SR base trim, it will allow you access to the XtraCab option, only available on SR, SR5, and TRD PreRunner grades. Toyota claims this is about maximum utility, and it comes with seating for two plus a functional rear cabin storage area and a six-foot bed.
There is no rear door and no rear seat, but it makes the most of the cabin space with various storage options including the lockable storage on the rear floor. The SR trim also comes with the six-speed manual as an option and is also available in the SR5, TRD Sport, and TRD Off-Road in their double cab forms.
Higher Trims of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Comes With More Features
The SR5 trim of the Tacoma brings with it a more powerful version of the turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Toyota says that in the SR5, the engine makes 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque with the manual gearbox and 278 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque for the automatic.
Upgrading to the TRD PreRunner will give you the electronically controlled locking rear differential, and if you pay for the TRD Sport trim you get access to the 2.4-liter turbocharged hybrid i-Force Max powertrain. This brings the power output up to 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque according to Toyota.
Upgrading to the TRD Off-Road gives you the Bilstein monotube shocks with removable reservoirs, Crawl Control, and Multi-Terrain Select. The Limited trim gives you access to the stunning 18-inch chrome-finished alloy wheels and exterior accents, plus the power up/down tailgate and power running boards.
