Many car owners and commercial drivers have complained about how the increase in fuel prices means they have to pay almost 4x for the regular-sized fuel they purchase regularly. Now, an average Nigerian who drives a V6 vehicle could spend over N40,000 to fill up their vehicle’s tank.

In a recent post shared on Instagram, the Instagram account @carcontinent wondered if the increase in the price of fuel will lead to the rise and popularity of electric cars in Nigeria. The caption of the post says:
“FUEL LOL! With how expensive petrol is, will we start seeing more electric cars in Nigeria?”
