Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, an elder statesman, former Nigerian military Head State, and two-time President of Nigeria post-military rule, is no stranger in the Nigerian political atmosphere.

He’s fondly called many nicknames like Baba Iyabo, Baba, and old soldier, while others referred to him as Ebora Owu, among many other names.

President Olusegun Obasanjo was a former Nigerian army general, head of state, statesman, diplomat, and also a farmer. He emerged as the first military ruler in Africa to hand over power to a civilian government after serving as Nigeria’s military ruler between 1976–79 (after Murtala Muhammed’s assassination),  and later as a civilian president between 1999–2007.

One of the interesting facts about the former president is that he’s the only Nigerian president who is also an art collector. At his Museum in Ogun State, his hometown, the past president put on a display of cars he rode during his time in the Nigerian military and while he served as the former democratic president of Nigeria. To date, these cars are all in good shape in their various size and shapes.

Some of these cars include:

The Mercedes Benz Pope-Mobile

President Obasanjo used the Mercedes-Benz Pope-Mobile during his second term campaign. The open nature of the vehicle was strategic because it connected man seeking office to the people searching for leaders.

The former president used the Volkswagen Beetle during his time as a young army officer, a little bit during his early days as Head of State, and after his retirement from the Nigerian army.

The Armoured Vehicle

Olusegun Obasanjo used this automobile during his time as a soldier. This vehicle was very important to his military mission during his time in the Congo wars.

Others include the helicopter he used during his military days, her personal car, which is a Mercedes Benz, a replica of the warship he was in during his military days, among others.
