Toyota makes two great sedans, the Camry and the Corolla. The Camry is the bigger car, and the Corolla is the smaller one, and as a result, both have different standard features. While most people prefer the higher trims of these vehicles, the base trim is still not bad.

Have you ever wondered about the features contained in a base trim model of a Toyota Corolla? Here’s a look at what Toyota offers as standard in the latest model year of the Corolla.

The Standard Interior Features of the Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla’s interior is decent and there’s nothing that’s great or terrible about it. After all, the Corolla was designed as an affordable compact sedan, so its interior isn’t very fancy. As a result of that design choice, reports say that the Corolla comes standard with five cloth seats.

Other interior features that are standard on the Corolla include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This touchscreen is compatible with Apple CarPlay, but it’s not compatible with Android Auto. That said, the Corolla is compatible with Bluetooth, and it also has a voice recognition system as standard.

Furthermore, Toyota offers a six-speaker stereo system, a USB port, and a Wi-Fi hotspot – all as standard in the Corolla. Overall, critics found the Corolla’s infotainment system to be easy to use, but the graphics on the touchscreen did look outdated compared to its competitors.

Lastly, in terms of cargo space, the Corolla doesn’t have much to speak of. That’s to be expected, as it is a compact car. The Corolla sedan has 13 cubic feet of trunk space and the hatchback version of the Corolla has 17.8 cu. ft. of trunk space. The hatchback version can fold its seats down, and that’ll increase the Corolla’s maximum cargo space to 23.3 cu. ft.

The Standard Performance Features of the Toyota Corolla

The standard Toyota Corolla comes with a 1.8-litre four-cylinder gas engine. It gets 139 hp, but car reviewers think that it’s underpowered for its segment. The Corolla’s standard two-wheel drive and suspension system gives it very smooth handling.

On top of that, Toyota is known for making some very fuel-efficient cars, and the Corolla isn’t an exception. The standard 1.8-litre engine on the Corolla gets 30 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on highways for a combined 34 mpg. The Corolla’s fuel economy is above average for its segment.

The Standard Safety Features of the Toyota Corolla

Another thing that Toyota is well-known for is how safe its cars are. And once again, the Corolla isn’t an exception. The Corolla actually has a lot of standard smart safety features. These smart safety features include systems that aren’t very common in more expensive cars as well as systems that are typically expensive options on other cars. Toyota Corolla offers adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a pedestrian detection system, all as standard in the Corolla.

Furthermore, Toyota Corolla also offers smart safety features such as lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, lane tracing assist, a traffic sign recognition system, and automatic high-beam headlights all as standard smart safety features as well.

These smart safety features are additions to the more common safety features that almost every modern car has, such as electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, and traction control. All of these standard safety features, as well as the Corolla’s great crash test ratings, were why critics gave the Toyota Corolla a 9.8 out of 10 for safety.
