The Federal Government of Nigeria has begun dolling out free solar system gifts across the country to citizens. The idea behind the free solar system gift is to enable citizens to cushion the results of the fuel subsidy removal and the increase in electricity tariff.
The free solar systems are being deployed to homes, hospitals, and markets across the country. According to the Managing Director of Rural Electrification Agency, Ahmad Salihjo, he noted that the Nigerian Government had ordered the agency to increase the deployment of more free solar systems to homes, schools, and hospitals across Nigeria.
The Director states that the project was under the Ministry of Power’s Poverty Reduction and Growth Strategy program approved by the Federal Government.

While the program is set to enable Nigerians to cushion the blow of the fuel subsidy removal, it has no direct impact on motorists and transporters who have to deal with the increase in fuel prices across the country.
As a result, many Nigerians have questioned the motive and are wondering what the Nigerian government is doing to help motorists and transporters cushion the blow of fuel subsidy removal and its brutal impact on their source of livelihood.
