According to Shaq, he spent that amount just to prove to a dealership manager that he wasn’t broke.
While talking about the experience in a video, Shaq says, “I don’t want to spend $400,000 on a car, so I’m like, hey how much is this? So the dealership guy says, ‘yoh man now you’re asking about all these cars, can you afford them?’
“Now, I get pissed asking him ‘what did you say, man?’ So I got pissed and bought three of it. So now I’ve got three Rolls Royce that I never drive.”
Since the video was shared on social media, it has drawn much attention and online discussion. Many people are of the opinion that he showed class, while others believe that the dealership manager won because he would get a lot of commission from selling three Rolls Royce cars.
Some say the comment by the dealership guy was a sales tactic and Shaq fell for the sales strategy. Others believe his decision to buy out three Rolls Royce at once was a boss move. A comment said, “He been boss & always will remain one.”
Despite spending over $1.3 million on three cars, equivalent to almost ₦975,000,000, the player’s net worth is estimated at $400 million. So, whether it was a sales strategy or not, Shaq still has a solid net worth to fall back on.
