In general, the Saudi team and Saudi Arabia are unsurprisingly stoked with the victory, even declaring a national holiday to celebrate the win.
And, according to the rumours, the celebration does not end there. The Saudi Arabian Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud is reportedly giving each player in the World Cup team a brand new $450,000 Rolls-Royce Phantom.
Since the rumour started making rounds, many social media users, especially on Twitter, have reacted to it.
One user said, “Wow, fo winning a match? What if they win the cup?”
Many people are also talking about the Saudi Arabia manager, Hervé Renard. Partly because he has a long track record of winning trophies with underdog teams and looks like an actor.
Many fans say he looks like Jaime Lannister (Nicolaj Coster-Waldau) from Game of Thrones.
The manager also took to Twitter to dedicate the win to Saudi Arabia’s people and rally their support for the next match.
He said, “Thanks to all the Saudis for the show yesterday.
“Congratulations to the team and the staff for this game, I dedicate this victory to the Saudi people. We are waiting for your support next match!”
Where The $450,000 Rolls-Royce Gift Rumour Came From
The rumour concerning the Rolls-Royce gift is believed to have stemmed from the 1994 World Cup when Saudi Arabia made it to the second round despite being one of the lowest-ranked teams.
After the team arrived back home, the King gifted Rolls-Royce striker Saeed Al-Owairan for scoring a goal against Belgium.
So, while there is no official word from Saudi Arabia, many are certainly waiting to see if history will repeat itself.
