It has been 50 years since the first Ranger Rover launched back on June 17th 1970 and JLR is celebrating this longstanding nameplate with a new special edition. Called the Range Rover 50, it can be had in both the long and short wheelbases and is based on the Autobiography trim. All 50 editions get Auric Atlas accents outside which is basically a copper-gold though it can be blacked out as seen above and a slew of 50 badges.
Under the hood is a 5.0L V8 making 518HP and of course going to all four wheels.
There are also some unique paint finishes that hark back to the original Range Rover such as Tuscan Blue, Bahama Gold and Davosw White! This special Range Rover is built by JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations division in limited numbers with these paints while the more mainstream versions will be Carpathian Grey, Rosello Red, Aruba or Santorini Black. In total just 1,970 of the 50th editions will be made.

Other markets have a decidedly more colourful choice, with the ‘Fifty offered in three additional shades, Tuscan Blue, Davos White and Bahama Gold, all from the original 1970 Range Rover catalogue.
A selection of two unique 22-inch wheel designs, exterior trim accents in Auric Atlas and a bespoke ‘Fifty’ script badge complete the look. Inside the headrests, dashboard and illuminated kickplates also feature the script, where a plaque notes the car as ‘1 of 1970’ vehicles commissioned.
