Avoid Direct Sun

Leathers are beautiful but are not a friend to sun /heat as heat can cause a tear. It is advised that a sun shield be put on the windscreen of the vehicle to avoid direct sun most especially in cars that are not tinted. The use of an air conditioner is also advisable as this helps the leather to keep cool.

Condition And Clean Seats Regularly

There are conditioners designed for leather interior, this should be applied to the seat and the seats should be cleaned, a vacuum cleaner can also be used in cleaning seats. The importance of the conditioner is that it helps prevent cracks and tears.

Avoid Overload And Sharp Objects

A weighty load can make a leather begin to tear, goods as this are meant for the boots of a car and not a car seat. Sharp objects should also not be placed directly on a car seat as this can cause a prick on the seat and a tear could commence from that spot.

Here are a few ways to fix a car’s seat;

1. Use Repair Kit

Ever heard of a leather repair kit? A leather repair kit is a set containing tools that can be used for leather repairs. It can be gotten from an auto shop whether online or offline. It also contains instructions that should be followed in order to repair the damaged area. You can begin the repair process by cutting away loosened threads with scissors. Apply leather filler using a palette knife and ensure to spread the leather filler on the backing cloth until it properly overlaps. Also, be mindful to use a colorant that is the same color as the car seat, this should be applied to the filled area and allow to dry.

 2. Patching The Spot

There is an option for patching; the patch to be used should be the same as your car seat just so it can keep up its attractive look after being worked on. This can be the extra leather or under the seat. Its size should be as exact as the place to be patched. Place some amount of leather adhesive over it most especially on the edges to help the cloth stick together and the job is done while it is allowed to completely dry off.

3. Use A Needle And Thread

Just as needle and thread can be used to mend our clothes when they encounter little tears so also it is for the car seat, get a threaded needle, be careful to use a thread color that in sync with the car seat  start stitching from underneath until the whole tear is covered,

4. Using Liquid Leather To Hide Cracks

Get a liquid leather that is the same as the leather of your car seat, this will help keep up the beauty of the car. After wiping the car seat with a towel and water, add water of about 30% to dilute the liquid leather, then apply the liquid leather and allow it to rest there in the absence of disturbance. This will allow better and long-lasting results. However, this might not work in cases where the damage is large,

Dirt must be cleaned from its surface using paper wipes/towels before carrying out any of the seat repair processes.
