Tchidi Chikere Biography

Tchidi Chikere was born on the 10th of October 1975 in Mbaise, Imo State, in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria. He grew up in Lagos, Nigeria and completed both his primary and secondary education in Lagos, in the South-West part of Nigeria

After secondary school, Tchidi proceeded to attend the University of Calabar, Cross River, in the South-South part of Nigeria, where he graduated from Theatre & Media Studies with a Bachelor’s Degree.

On the 29th of March 2014, Tchidi Chikere got married to his second wife, Nuella Njubigbo, after a failed 11-year-old marriage with his first wife. Tchidi and Nuella welcomed their first child on the 2nd of December, 2014. In 2015, the couple had their court marriage, and three years later, it was followed by a white wedding on the 9th of June, 2018, at the Catholic Church of Transfiguration, VGC, Lagos State.

However, seven years later, Tchidi & Nuella’s marriage started developing issues. Both parties unfollowed each other on Instagram, and when it became public knowledge, the bot denied it. However, the rumour resurfaced a month later, and this time, it was true.

While congratulating Yul Edochie on his second wife, a fan slammed Tchidi for being unable to keep a marriage for more than two weeks. The filmmaker fired back, saying his marriage with Nuella was fine until she started sneaking out of the house.

Tchidi Chikere’s first wife was actress, producer, and skincare guru Sophie Williams, and they had three children. He remarried Nuella Njubigbo and had one child with her. Currently, he’s remarried to an undisclosed woman. He posted a soft launch picture of himself and his new wife with the caption:

After NYSC, Tchidi travelled to the UK, where he published his first book. In 2007, Tchidi Chikere launched his first music album, Slaps n Kisses. The album was produced by OJB Jezreel and Marvelous Benji and featured Rita Dominic, Pat Attah, Marvelous Benji, Jimmy B, and OJB Jezreel. He later released his second album in the UK.

The filmmaker directed several classic Nollywood movies like Dumebi and Stronger Than Pain, amongst many others. He has won several awards as a director. In 2008, he won the Africa Movie Academy Awards for Best Comedy in Stronger Than Pain & Beautiful Soul. In 2012, he was nominated twice in the 2012 Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards for Best Actor for his role in When Heaven Smiles. In 2013, he was nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the 2013 Nollywood Movies Awards for directing the movie Dumebi.
