Beetle cars A.K.A tortoise cars are one of the oldest cars many Nigerians have come across. Its design and build are as ancient as they come but, it’s still one of the strongest cars you’ll find anywhere.
An interesting thing is how despite its age, a beetle car can withstand road challenges better than some modern cars today.
Their lifespan is solid, made with the finest and sturdiest materials. Therefore, it’s not completely far-fetched when a young Nigerian man, Dozie Afam Kings, who earns a living from turning old abandoned vintage cars into wonders decided to convert the Beetle car into a luxury vintage ride.

Dozie acquired the vintage Beetle, took out its roof, and transformed and changed its interior entirely. He redid its upholstery and gave the exterior a face-lift.
Apparently, this is the business that Dozie Afam Kings has been doing off-camera until he was caught up with a digital video producer, Samson Adeleke who revealed that he has been remodelling vintage cars and flipping them for profit for 9 years in Lagos.
Samson shared the vintage Beetle car that Dozie was working on, and how it was later transformed into something appealing and desirable by many.
Dozie also informed Samson that the Beetle car has already been paid for by someone who learnt of his works and had initially wanted to buy off his own ride from him.
The reaction of Nigerians over the work Dozie does has been over the roof. One person on LinkedIn commented saying,
“Wow! How long does it take to refurbish one vintage car? Can you scale this to refurbish a few hundred in a week? Can you take this further to make the cars hybrid and ultimately electric? I know those who can invest and offer some help if the business model, scale, and execution are strong enough.”
Indeed, there’s a growing Nigerian market for the vintage car refurbishing business and with adequate support, this industry will be experiencing even more growth in the future.
