The 2021 Honda Odyssey is Faster Than a Lamborghini

When you imagine a 2021 Honda Odyssey, chances are you’re thinking of its excellent tech features, safety, and space for large families. However, the Odyssey comes with a firm engine. As a result, it’s quicker off the line than some sports cars. In fact, it’ll hit 60 mph faster than a Lamborghini Countach.

Here is how the minivan compares to the vintage supercar.

How Fast is the 2021 Honda Odyssey?

The 2021 Honda Odyssey is powered by a simple yet robust naturally-aspirated engine. It’s a 3.5-litre V6, and it develops 280 hp and 262 lb-ft. A 10-speed automatic transmission then sends all of the available power to the front wheels.

Given that the large Honda is a minivan, there is quite a bit of weight to move around, 4,574 lb to be exact. Despite this, the minivan managed to lay down some impressive figures during testing with Car and Driver.

According to Car and Driver, the Honda Odyssey managed to reach 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds. It is worth noting that the van Car and Driver tested was an Elite trim, meaning it is the heaviest version with all of the interior goodies. Despite this, the van could complete a 0-100 mph test in just 16.6 seconds. Take the Odyssey to a drag strip, and you’ll see a quarter-mile time of just 15.1 seconds at 95 mph.

Given its minivan status, the Honda Odyssey is electronically limited to just 111 mph. As a result, it won’t leave behind many modern sports cars. However, that doesn’t stop it from being faster than a Lamborghini Countach.

The redesign of the Honda Odyssey was impressive for the 2021 model year. However, it was nothing compared to the excitement generated by the Lamborghini Countach’s arrival in the 1970s. Powering this vintage supercar is a 3.9-litre 12-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine. Total output is rated at 375 hp. Power goes to the rear wheels exclusively via a five-speed manual transmission.

Despite having twice as many cylinders as the 2021 Honda Odyssey, the minivan can more than keep up with this supercar. According to Zero to 60 Times, a 1976 Lamborghini Countach LP400 takes just 6.8 seconds to reach 60 mph.

Conclusion

Regardless of its boxy shape and large-family appeal, the 2021 Honda Odyssey may just be a good bit of fun to drive as well.
