The driver without any care in the world never imagined what happened next when the rim and the road continued to ignite sparks. What the sparks led to was a blazing fire that eventually set the Mercedes G-Wagon ablaze.

Certainly, the driver of the SUV will have regrets for making the dangerous decision of driving a car with a completely flat tire on the highway.

While this was an incident that occurred in Hong Kong, it still feels very familiar to many Nigerians who have been contributing to the conversation about the burning Mercedes G-wagon.

For Nigerians on social media, it brings to mind that one time in 2017 when Governor Ayodele Fayose’s Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon caught fire while in motion in Lagos.

The car was being driven to the airport and suddenly, it burst into flames. Fortunately, Fayose was not in the vehicle and no one was injured during the incident.

The general speculation was that some people were behind the attack on his car. This statement given by the then Governor grew more controversial. Yet, what caused the sudden fire in the SUV was unidentified.

Though the incident was blamed on Arson, the recent footage of a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon that caught fire while on the roadshows that there might be other possible causes of cars catching fire while driving.

Brands like Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Kia and many other automakers have already informed users about the engine fire risks that may cause cars to burst into flames without warning.

The footage of the recent burning of the Mercedes G-wagon now supports the opinion that cars can suddenly catch fire when certain safety policies are violated.
