The Toyota Land Cruiser is in line to be radically reinvented for the electric era, as previewed by a striking new concept the Japanese firm is taking to the Tokyo motor show next week.
Toyota has pulled off the wraps of the first-ever Land Cruiser EV along with a mini EV Pickup in Japan’s Mobility show. While both are concepts, they reveal a new, almost unrecognizable look for the brand. Officially called the Land Cruiser SE Concept, this EV SUV features 3 rows of seating and a “high torque EV powertrain.” They also highlight how quiet this Land Cruiser is in urban environments and “on-road situations…” so much for off-roading. It also uses a monocoque chassis and is big at 202in long.
Then we have the tiny EPU Concept, a small electric pickup. The EPU is just over 16 feet inches long and rides on a 132-inch wheelbase, around the size of a Ford Maverick. It also uses a monocoque chassis and Toyota even revealed the futuristic interior with a yoke wheel, digital dash and more.
