Lawmakers under the Labour Party political party are gearing toward receiving their N160 million luxury SUV gift promised by President Bola Tinubu, despite advice from the party’s chairman.

Speaking to The Punch on the 19th of October, Ngozie Okolie, the Labour party lawmaker representing Aniocha North and South told the publication that Julius Abure, the party chairman’s demands were unrealistic, mainly because he had yet to provide them with alternatives to execute their jobs.

The lawmaker maintained that having the luxury SUV is a necessity considering the nature of their oversight functions in the polity.

The Labour Party lawmaker further noted that Nigerians are quick to attack legislators for accepting these car gifts even though politicians at the state level get more benefits than federal lawmakers.

Earlier on, a Lawmaker from Kaduna, Shehu Sani, noted that no lawmaker would reject the car gift that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has presented to the National Assembly for the 360 members of the House of Representatives.
