Toyota has announced that the new GR Corolla will be unveiled on Thursday, March 31st on its official Twitter page. The model will be the fourth Toyota product to wear the Gazoo Racing badge. It will join the Supra, GR86, and GR Yaris in Toyota’s performance line-up.

There is also a hint that it will have an all-wheel-drive from the video posted online because of the fender vent, a GR emblem, and a “GR-Four” insignia. The wait for this Toyota’s entry into the hot-hatchback market is nearly over.

The Corolla is also likely to use the 1.6-litre turbocharged inline-three engine from the GR Yaris, which produces 257 horsepower. If the 275-horsepower Hyundai Veloster N, 241-horsepower Volkswagen Golf GTI, and 271-horsepower Subaru WRX remain unchanged for the US-spec car, the Corolla will be in a race with the 275-horsepower Hyundai Veloster N, 241-horsepower Volkswagen Golf GTI, and 271-horsepower Subaru WRX.

The GR model is expected to be based on the hatchback body style of the Corolla, but with additional vents, scoops, and wider wheels and tires to make it look leaner and meaner than the standard model. A six-speed manual transmission is expected to be standard, alongside a dual-clutch automatic transmission as an option.
