Back in 2006 when the first of its kind was first produced, it wasn’t readily accepted in Nigeria as we were skeptical about cars that were not made in Germany, China, or Japanese. However, that was not to stop the American-made SUV from quickly gaining the attention of Nigerians in the following years. Today, Ford SUV is commonly found on Nigerian roads.

Overview
Currently, in its second generation of production (2015 – present), the Ford Edge features a unique design from what we once knew it to be. The first generation (2007 – 2014), although quite good in its own rights, was just another everyday SUV. it didn’t really have anything special. Despite that, it still bagged a good number of awards from respectable bodies.
The second generation, however, is a massive upgrade in looks, design, and performance to the first generation. The interior was greatly remodeled to look more classy and appealing while the handling of the car was crowned with agility. With enough space in the car to conveniently fit all the passengers and still more than enough for your luggage in the boot. Also, it features more high-tech safety features.
Trims and Performance
Ford Edge tries to satisfy all its customers that have varying pocket sizes by being available in four different trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and Sport, in ascending order of expensiveness. These trim levels, as you would expect, only differ in their features. While all model years feature both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, they differ somewhat in their power outputs. The 2007 to 2009 model years feature the same 3.5 L V6 engine that outputs 265 hp with 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2010 Ford Edge has the same engine but has an increased power output of 285 hp which was maintained from 2011 to 2014. However, the 2011 to 2014 models also came with a 3.7 L V6 engine, hitting a massive horsepower of 305 hp.
The birth of the second generation saw the birth of new engines. From the 2015 model year up to 2018, they all have the same engines: 2.0-liter I-4 (245-hp) and 2.7-liter V-6 (315-hp), and with 6-speed automatic transmissions. The 2019 model, however, has slightly improved power and 8-speed automatic transmission.
