How Thugs Attack Funke Akindele-Jandor Convoy At Badagry Lagos

Following the start of the campaign for the next general election, various party candidates and flag bearers have been participating in the election campaign. The Jandor–Akindele campaign has also been one of the participants, an aspirant for the Governorship position in Lagos state under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) umbrella. 

However, an Instagram post surfaced yesterday concerning the attack on the Jandor-Funke campaign convoy. The post was shared yesterday on both the page of the Governorship aspirant, Jandor and his running mate, Funke Akindele. 

The post states,

“Yesterday, three members of my entourage, including a journalist, were harmed as thugs attacked our convoy as we ended our tour of Badagry. We were attacked at Mowo junction on our way back from Ikoga by hoodlums who shot at my convoy.

“Thuggery has become synonymous with politics in Lagos state, as evidenced during the 2015 and 2019 elections, where voters were attacked for trying to exercise their constitutional rights.

“This kind of political thuggery is unacceptable and the opposite of what we need in Lagos. It is not the first time we have been targeted for conducting our election campaign legally.

“We will not be dissuaded from our goal because the future of Lagos and the well-being of its citizens is far too important to be left in the hands of a corrupt, violent, and incompetent party.

“We will not sit and watch as criminal elements attempt to disrupt the election cycle using violence and intimidation, and we have exhibited that today by refusing to be intimidated by their cowardly act and immediately hitting the street, in continuation of our ward tour, now in OJO Local Government.

“I call on Governor Sanwoolu to deal swiftly with this menace and prove to all Lagosians that he does not support violence against other politicians and the voting public. I also call on the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and the Area Commander of Police to restore confidence in the ability of law enforcement agencies in the state to maintain peace and order by bringing the perpetrators of this crime to justice and preventing further violence during this campaign cycle.”

Images shared on the Instagram post also details how the thugs damaged the Toyota Hiace bus and another bus used for the campaign.
