Not only is this yacht tall, but it’s also a staggering 127 meters in length, which means it’s longer than a football field.
The yacht, currently docked in The Netherlands, is so big that it’s already found itself at the centre of some controversy. It’s so tall that it’s unable to pass under the Koningshave Bridge in The Netherlands.
Bezos has reportedly asked the Dutch city of Rotterdam to dismantle the 95-year-old landmark so that his yacht can pass under it.
Reports also say that Bezos said he would pay to have the bridge dismantled and rebuilt again, but his request was refused.
As a result, Bezos readjusted his expectations and the sails on his yacht so it could fit underneath the bridge.
The yacht’s name is “Koru,” a Maori word that means “new beginnings.” The name was revealed this week when the yacht began transmitting under “Koru” on its automatic identification system (AIS).
The Yacht is set to be delivered to Bezos in the next couple of months.
Jeff Bezos’ Superyachts
The Koru will join the fleet of superyachts, helicopters, and planes owned by Bezos and his millionaire girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez.
The couple’s collection includes the Flying Fox. This private yacht is one of the world’s longest, most impressive yachts, measuring 135 meters in length. It’s worth more than $400 million and costs $40 million annually.
The vessel has two helipads and its very own helicopter on board. The chopper itself is estimated to be worth $100 million.
