The team travelled with eight vehicles with only five surviving the trip. The five are two Toyota Land Cruisers, one Mercedes G-Wagon, one Ford F-150, and one Lexus RX350. No African-made car brand joined the mix.

However, reports note that the team members reached out to KANTANKA Automobile in Ghana to schedule a meeting, but the brand refused to grant them a meeting.
Social media users react by stating that the automobile brand had lost a chance for free marketing and publicity.
One user stated:
“the headline on BBC and social media would have been something different like…MADE IN GHANA KANTANKA BRAND LEADS FLEET OF CARS FROM ACCRA-LONDON DRIVE.”
The social media users go further to argue that the Kantanka Omama model truck rivals the Ford Raptor. The devastated equally stated that if they were the Kantanka Automobile Marketing Manager, they would have struck a deal with the adventurers, and leveraged free marketing to promote the brand’s vehicles.
Another social media user reacted by saying: “I’m sure they thought the Accra to London drive was all a hoax and sounds illogical. the usual Ghana man mentality cost them. Sad”
