There are no plans by Ford Motor Co., the American-owned company continued the production of the Ford Focus. What this means is that the company will also be saying goodbye to its production plant in Germany.

As the production of the Ford Focus will end in 2025, Ford will be focusing its attention on electric vehicles, the company said. On Wednesday, Ford of Europe head, Stuart Rowley said, “We’re seeking other alternative opportunities for vehicle production at Saarlouis, including [selling to] other manufacturers. We don’t have in our planning cycle an additional model that goes into Saarlouis.”

Gathering information, the closure of the Ford German plant isn’t a rashly thought-out plan. The Ford German plant has previously lost to the Ford plant in Valencia, Spain when it failed to produce vehicles that will be ushering the company into its next generation of electric vehicle architecture starting after 2025.
Still, both the plant in Germany and Spain will experience a significant job reduction as Ford tries to pivot towards its future into electric cars production, Rowley warns.
He also noted that “ The reality of the automobile industry is that the production of EVs will require fewer people.”
Currently, Ford employs 10,600 people in Valencia, Spain and Germany. The Ford site in Cologne, Germany will not be affected by the employee reduction coming up soon. Yet, Rowley did not give the number of people that’ll be discharged or the time this will be taking place.
Evidently, Ford will be joining other car companies in the industry to pivot towards electric car production after 2025. Still, Ford has not given any indication in what segment the electric models that’ll be built by the plant in Valencia, Spain will compete.
