First Pre-Production Electric Cadillac Lyriq SUV Rolls off the Line ready for Customers

The first pre-production all-electric Cadillac Lyriq SUV rolls off the line at Spring Hill. GM is set to deliver production electric SUV Cadillac Lyriq to customers in ‘a few months.

The all-electric Cadillac Lyriq mid-size SUV was unveiled by GM’s luxury brand in August 2020. The 100 kWh battery pack it comes with allows the Lyriq SUV to travel more than 300 miles (482 km) on a charge.

The 2023 all-electric Cadillac Lyriq is moving closer to showrooms worldwide after the pre-production version of the all-electric SUV rolled off the line at the GM’s Spring Hill Manufacturing plant. Mark Reuss, the President of General Motors, while announcing the milestone in a post he made on LinkedIn on Thursday, said that the final production version of the Lyriq is expected to be delivered to customers in a few months.

The caption goes thus;

“Our first pre-production Cadillac LYRIQ has rolled off the line at Spring Hill, marking a major milestone for the LYRIQ program as the team prepares to ship vehicles to customers in a few months. Our teams have worked tirelessly on the LYRIQ, bringing the launch up nine months ahead of schedule and working in parallel to convert the plant and start production. I’m thankful to the Spring Hill and Cadillac teams for all their hard work. Congratulations on this huge milestone!.”

The all-electric Cadillac Lyriq mid-size SUV, unveiled in August 2020, will be the first all-electric vehicle from GM’s luxury brand.

Along with its 100 kWh battery pack which produces 340-horsepower and an ability to travel more than 300 miles (482 km) on a charge, is a 190 kW DC fast charger which adds up to 76 miles (122 km) of range in 10 minutes while 195 miles (314 km) of range can be added after 30 minutes. When it enters the market, the Lyriq will compete with the models such as Tesla Model Y, Audi E-Tron, and Jaguar I-Pace.
