First Drive: 2024 Tesla Model 3 “Highland”

I got my hands on the 2024 Model 3 Long Range this past week and it sure is a change. Outside is a refined new design with a Tesla Roadster-inspired front facia and a sleek new tailgate with C-shaped taillights and the Tesla logo spelt out. On the sides, there is a longer side camera/turn signal repeater that now extends into the door. All of these changes have improved the aerodynamics to both increase range and reduce wind noise.

The EPA range of the dual motor 51 million naira model now is up to 341 miles while the RWD 41 million naria sits at 272 miles.

As of now, there is no Performance model though that is coming at a later date. The Model 3 also no longer can get a tax credit, making It more expensive than even a Model Y Performance. You can get a $7,500 lease credit though Tesla will not let you buy out your lease still.

The Model 3 Highland also comes with HW4 Autopilot systems.

The interior features a wraparound design with aluminium and fabric materials along with ambient lighting and a quieter space thanks to new acoustic glass and increased sound-deadening materials. The 15.4in screen remains though features slimmer bezels and a new 8in rear display for climate controls and infotainment. Gone are the stalks in favour of steering wheel buttons. Oh, it gets ventilated seats now too.

It was fine honestly. Wasn’t the drastic change I was expecting. Steering wheel controls all on there without stalks is a learning curve, honestly even dangerous at times. The design update is decent, nothing crazy.
